CAPH Appoints Katie Rodriguez as Senior Director of Policy

OAKLAND, CA – Today, the California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems (CAPH) announced that Katie Rodriguez will be joining the organization as its new Senior Director of Policy. In that role, Rodriguez will serve as the lead for CAPH’s policy portfolio, which focuses on opportunities to improve care for historically marginalized communities. Because California’s 21 public health care systems serve many of these patients, CAPH plays a prominent role in these policy issues and decisions.

Rodriguez brings a 16 year career in public policy, public affairs, and advocacy to this role. Her experience spans the federal level, serving as a legislative staffer and in the White House, as well as the local level, as a policy advisor to the former Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan. Most recently, Rodriguez spent 9 years at the California Health Care Foundation, namely as the Associate Director of its State Health Policy Office.

“I have long admired California’s public health care systems for their unwavering commitment to ensuring high quality care for historically marginalized communities,” Rodriguez said. “As CAPH’s Senior Director of Policy, I am eager to apply my experience to CAPH’s important, ongoing work.”

“CAPH is thrilled to have Katie’s depth and breadth of understanding of California’s health care safety net,” said Erica Murray, President and CEO of CAPH. “Katie will hit the ground running, helping us advance policy and advocacy efforts that strengthen the capacity of our members to ensure access to comprehensive, high-quality, culturally sensitive health care services for all Californians, regardless of insurance status, ability to pay, or other circumstance, and educate the next generation of health care professionals.”
